Stanley in LONDON - Day 4

Hi Bennet and Year 2

My holiday is coming to an end. Dominique said that before I go back to Sydney we need to visit Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family live there when they are in London. Every day tourists gather near the gates of the palace to see the Changing of the Guards Ceremony. Here I am at the Palace waiting with all the other tourists.
Stanley outside Buckingham Palace.

"Ba Boom!  Ba Boom!" I can hear the marching band coming and the guards! How exciting.
I really like their red jackets and their beaver hats and their shoes are so SHINY!

The Queen's Guards led by their marching band.
After that, I thought we could pop in to say hello to the new prince and give him his present.

and their new baby, Prince George

Unfortunately it was naptime for Prince George...

Stanley's gift for Prince George

so we left the present with the guard.

Stanley really wishes he had
one of those fluffy black Beaver Hats.

He politely promised he would pass it on to the little Prince

Exploring LONDON Day 3

The next day Dominique had to go to work. We caught the TUBE to Covent Garden where Dom works.  I decided to do some exploring on my own. I checked out the nearby markets to buy some souvenirs.

Stanley in Covent Garden - near the entrance to the Tube!
Then I had heard that the new Dr Who was in London getting ready to fight the
Darleks so I decided to check a few phone boxes hoping to meet Dr Who
and wish him luck!

Stanley found the phone boxes but he couldn't find Dr Who!
Can YOU find Stanley?
Time to go home. Maybe I could hail this London Taxi Cab? That would be fun.

Stanley takes a London Taxi Ride !
What a great time Stanley is having in London!
He has now tried the trains, the buses AND the taxis

Sightseeing in LONDON Day 2

Today Dom and I are going to do some more sightseeing. We went for a walk along the Thames to see Big Ben. Big Ben is the largest four faced chiming clock in the world. It is at the top of the Elizabeth Tower at Westminster Palace. The Tower and the Tower Clock are more than 150 years old. We decided to have a closer look!
The River Thames and the Houses of Parliament. Can you see Big Ben?

Big Ben - BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG!

Turns out everyone is right, Big Ben really is big! You can't even SEE me in this picture!

It was 5pm so we caught one of the famous London Red Double Decker buses home. I was so tired from all that walking!

Greetings from LONDON!

Hi Year 2

Well here I am in London. I came here for a holiday with Mrs Sprainger's daughter Dominique. Dominique was home from London to see her family and  she suggested that I go back to London with her for a holiday. How exciting! We travelled on a British Airways flight all the way from Sydney.

Dominique took me to see some of the sights of London. Our first stop on my holiday in London was the world famous National Portrait Gallery on Trafalgar Square. It's been open since 1896 and we were lucky enough to see lots of amazing portraits.

Stanley at the National Portrait Gallery.
"I wonder if they have MY portrait here!"

There were contemporary paintings, so detailed they look like photographs and very old portraits of important historical figures like Captain Cook who discovered Sydney Harbour in 1770  and Arthur Phillip who brought the first white settlers to Sydney in 1788.

WOW this portrait looks so real!

Stanley singing...."Captain Cook chased a chook all around Australia" ...just kidding!
Stanley likes Arthur Philip's Hat!

Next Dom and I  decided to check out Trafalgar Square too. There were lots of other tourists there. In the middle of the square is a huge monument called Nelson's Column. There is also a beautiful fountain and some pigeons too.

Here I am in Trafalgar Square, London
My favourite thing in the square were the four huge black marble lions guarding the column.
I loved the huge marble Lions!

Stanley's vist to Sydney

Hi Year 2

Well I'm still at Gareth and Sheldine's. Today was a beautiful sunny day so they took me for a ride in their car to the city. To get to Sydney you can take the Sydney Harbour Tunnel or the Sydney Harbour Bridge. We travelled across the bridge. Here's the view from the front seat.

Stanley crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Sydney Tower.

Once we got to the city we checked out some of the sights including the Sydney Tower. The Sydney Tower is 309 m tall. You can go all the way to the top to see the amazing view.

WOW! Check out the view from the top of the Sydney Tower!

Later we walked through the Pitt Street Mall where we saw some musicians busking.

Here I am listening to the band in Pitt Street Mall.
Later we had a picnic lunch in Hyde Park before we went home.

What a great day we had!

Stanley visits Gareth and Sheldine

Hi Bennet and Year 2

Thanks for all your comments on the blog. I've had another exciting week. I went to stay with Mrs Sprainger's son Gareth. He and Sheldine live in Cremorne near Sydney Harbour. Outside their flat are some very tall Canary Island Palm Trees which are about 100 years old.

Gareth said I could climb the trees to see if I could see Sydney Harbour. The view was fantastic.

Then we took a stroll down the road to Cremorne Point where you can take a ferry to cross Sydney Harbour.

Can you see any Sydney landmarks you know? Can you see the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Tower or perhaps the Sydney Harbour Bridge? If you want a closer look, simply click on the picture to make it larger.

Hope you are all enjoying my adventures so far. I'll share some more adventures sooner.

Relaxing at home

Hello Bennett,
After my visit to the hospital I went home with Mrs Sprainger. She made dinner and then she let me sit in Geoff's red leather chair. It was so comfortable.  You will notice I also have the remote control. That means I will be able to choose to watch all my favourite television programs. I think I'll watch some cartoons. What is your favourite TV show?
